NexApi/Use case

Webhooks + REST

Put a REST API in front of webhook-driven workflows

Combine REST endpoints with webhook delivery so applications can accept requests, trigger downstream systems, and keep integration behavior observable.

What this workflow solves

Go from idea to a stable HTTP contract without building every backend layer first.

Webhooks and REST solve different parts of an integration. REST gives clients a predictable request surface; webhooks push events to downstream systems. NexApi includes both, letting you keep request configuration, delivery behavior, and logs closer together.

Expose a stable REST route to clients or internal tools.

Configure webhook destinations for event-driven follow-up.

Sign webhook deliveries when a secret is configured.

Use retries and logs to troubleshoot delivery failures.

How it works

A short path from data model to usable endpoint.

01

Create the inbound route

Define the REST endpoint that receives or exposes the data your workflow needs.

02

Configure the webhook

Add the destination URL and signing secret for the downstream consumer.

03

Trigger the workflow

Use the API and webhook configuration together in the application flow.

04

Inspect delivery

Use logs and retry behavior to diagnose failed or unexpected deliveries.

Request
POST /r/orders/orders
content-type: application/json

{ "orderId": "ord_812", "status": "paid" }
Response
{
  "accepted": true,
  "orderId": "ord_812"
}

REST in, event out

A client writes data through a normal API call while a downstream system can be notified through a webhook.

Built into NexApi

The API operations layer is already there.

Start small, then add the controls normally scattered across backend code, gateway config, webhook workers, and observability tools.

Visual endpoint builder

Configure methods, paths, request schemas, and response mappings from one interface.

API keys and access

Add API-key based access rules and keep public endpoints under control.

Rate limits and caching

Apply endpoint-level runtime controls without rebuilding the surrounding backend.

Webhooks and connectors

Connect REST APIs with Google Sheets, Slack, Discord, webhooks, Postgres, MySQL, and external REST APIs.

OpenAPI output

Keep the API contract consumable by documentation and developer tooling.

Logs and analytics

Inspect requests and usage from the same dashboard used to configure the API.

Good fit for

Teams that want to ship the API contract first.

SaaS teams adding outbound integrations
Automation workflows that receive and forward data
Internal systems connecting REST clients to webhook consumers
Developers replacing ad-hoc webhook glue code

Frequently asked

Can NexApi sign webhook deliveries?

Yes. When a webhook secret is configured, NexApi sends an HMAC-SHA256 signature together with a timestamp header.

Are webhook retries supported?

NexApi includes webhook management and a retry worker flow so failed deliveries can be handled more reliably than a fire-and-forget request.

Can I also call external REST APIs?

Yes. NexApi has a REST API connector alongside webhook, Slack, Discord, database, and Google Sheets connectors.
